Peasholm Park is a nice small park to wander around and watch the world go bye. Its unique features like the wishing well, dragons head and the pagoda makes it different than any other park. It lures you into the world of Japan and its arrangement of trees, lakes, benches and bridges makes it the ideal place to forget all your worries. The wishing well gives the idea of a well knit community who cares about their surroundings and wants the tourist to enjoy the lakes, wildlife and the ability to roam around the lake in the boats. The trees around the large lake protects you from the sun, which is an added bonus for those who get sun burnt easily.
As I wondered around the tranquil park their were plenty of squirrels dashing about, watching people as they walk by and it is a great escape from the busy town centre. Its colourful trees, lakes and lawns makes you want to sit down and write. What astonished me was that their was no sign of vandalism and wear and tear where as back home my own park has names and paint splattered onto the walls. If I lived around Peasholm park I would wander around it every day, not to write but to cherish and admire the earths beauty.
The only thing that let it down was the lack of Sign Post. If their was a sign post with a map of the park at the entrance I would have ventured into the Lilly pads. The only sign seen was near the cafe with a map of the park and a message board explaining about the theme of the park. The map was clearly drawn out and the explanation of the Willow pattern fitted well in the park.
It is an ideal park to walk the dog, explore and wander around for a few hours and is great to stay away from the glaring sun.
